2019 Feedback: Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris Virginica)
“I planted some Blue Flag Iris that are doing well.”
“In 2016, I planted Blue Flag Iris and they have done well too.”
“I also bought some irises. Same deal, I kept them watered and they too survived.”
“I also planted 20 blue flag iris and most of those seem to be growing. They are very hardy and can withstand the lower water and yet will grow when submerged in higher water.”
“I bought Iris and planted them in mud where the normal water level would be. They were OK until Hurricane Dorian. After the storm half the Iris were gone. The remaining Iris are now in water and are alive but have not grown any since they were planted.”
“My plants are all doing well.”
“They were doing well until the landscaper cut them down. They are, however, coming back and doing nicely.”
“I planted my iris virginica in my culvert and they are thriving. I feel the Virginica love the wet
area they were placed.”
Struggling a bit but all seem to still be with us.”
“Early on I had good success with the Blue Flag Iris, which I planted in the mud, partially under
water. Between the animals and the rising water, they are now gone”.
“I planted 4 Blue Flag Iris in the mud zone of my pond. Not one of the plants survived. I am not a
novice in ponds, I had a pond in my home in NJ and never had an issue. I live in Regency Lakes.”
“The blue flag iris did wonderfully and bloomed this season. Planted in a muddy location.”
